In Shakespeare's famous play, Hamlet, there was the famous question To be or not to be. Similarly, Arjuna the protagonist in the Mahabharata, gets confused regarding what his duties are. Lord Krishna reminds him of his warrior duty to fighting for duties/dharma over adharma. Duty vs fun. Intellect vs mind. To be or not to be. To do this or to do that? What are my priorities? This ancient scripture, spoken 5000 years ago, is written as the words of Lord Krishna. It gives the key points in life that are necessary in order to reach Nirvana and to understand one's priorities. It summarizes that Karishye Vachanam Tavah, which means Yes, I will do as you say is the key to success in life; by modeling someone who is successful, you can become that person whom you would like to model. It also summarizes the key findings in a yogi. One who has restrained the five senses similar to a charioteer controlling the reigns of his/her horses! Follow your duties over your senses, and you will always be secure! There is a famous sloka, yada yada hi dharmasya, which means, whenever adharma takes precedence over dharma (duties), right will defeat wrong. For doctors/xshudras, this means to reduce the pain of their patients, to serve the patient, to strive to increase his/her quality and quantity of life, and to fight laziness by doing another's work! A warrior's duty is to fight anyay/injustice for dharma (duties) over adharma. A brahmin's duty is to rid lack of knowledge. A businessman's duty is to fight abhava, meaning to fill in people's needs. Agyan, anyay, abhav, alasya fought respectively by brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya/businessmen, xshudra/doctor.
